A day of rest is good. For IT professionals, that should be the case too.
1. do your weekend maintanence on Saturday.
2. do your monitoring of Saturday's work on Sunday and try to stay at rest.
3. do your update and reporting of success or modifications on Monday.
Repeat after me: you are expendable. regardless of how smart you are, or think you are, you can be replaced. even though you have significant knowledge and expertise, you can be replaced and for a while, sometimes a long while, your client and organization will suffer from a lack of expertise and efficiency, yet they will survive, or maybe not.
Anyone can sell a product and service, yet most cannot deliver on and support installed technologies without great pain and delay.
Keep your key assets close and rewarded appropriately. No matter what, do the right thing always.
Sunday is a day of rest for all. If you have a family, keep it sacred.
If you don't, and let your employer run over you and your family, you will lose both; at first your family, and then eventually, your employer, not necessarily in that order.
Do the right thing; find the right employer with the right work ethics and family values.
