AMD versus Intel build for a family member wanting to become a gamer

I have a family member wanting to become a gamer. Well, the computer case only support microATX motherboards, so instead of the classic AMD Ryzen 3, 5, 7 processors I might have to go with an Intel i5 or i7 series.
We shall see. Cooling will be a factor. I just helped another client with his gaming build and his cooling solution was a stock 8 pipe solution. I might go with that.
