Bleeping computer just posted a great article on a new flavor of the month in phishing, when in fact, this is the most obvious no-no.

If you get an email from someone you know or don't, and there is an attachment, you better make sure you know, trust and are darn positive its from them, it was expected, and if in doubt, delete it, call them back by phone, confirm the email, confirm the purpose, and above all, don't blindly open the email and attachment -- email them directly and ask for the attachment again and not in the same email. start your own email, send it to them, and confirm or deny the truth of the matter.

File extensions on attachments you should never open.

.exe
.zip
.bin
.js
.html
.jar

File extensions on attachments you could trust, yet not always.
.pdf
.doc  / .docx
.xls / .xlsx
.ppt / .pptx
.log
.txt

That's pretty much it. be careful and don't be click happy. if in doubt, don't open it.

my reference to the post and why its important to not get lazy on email, websites, strange links, strange attachments, etc. there is a fun, safe, healthy, good, bad, ugly and dark side to being connected via the Internet. Stay center left or right.

FYI we use paypal or patreon, patreon has 3x the transaction fees, so we don't, not yet.
