The advancement of artificial intelligence since the 1950s has been slow to fast. Neural networks and fuzzy logic were the craze of the early pioneers and now we moved on to fast AI, generative AI, destructive AI and the like.

Where did the speed of advancement come from and why did it move so quickly? First of all, the access to vast amounts of data and data sets has grown since the early 2000s when the Internet was slowly evolving and forming. Internet startup companies were harvesting user data without permission and without regulation for the most part.

Fast forward to today, we have billions and billions of data sets waiting to be used for all sorts of benefits and exposing risks. There is no question, there is a conundrum in the usage in both the positives and negatives of the data.

Generative AI is now something I find cool. I can ask simple questions to more complex questions and get quick results and quick answers. ChatGPT was my first, and then Grok. Both I have used for both personal and business reasons in the past few months. As you can tell, I am not an early adopter. Let's other fall on their own swords while the systems are being tested and debugged.

What I can offer is something straight forward. Use the following word and acronym THINK (Ref 1) before you use Generative AI for any purpose; form, fit or function.

Plus, be mindful you are asking benign questions that don't expose any personal information about yourself or others, and by all means remain generic enough so that the Generative AI engine can give you a robust answer and then narrow down your question to be more precise if you need it.

Remember, these are building blocks and tools to your own answers. Attribution to another's work is very important. Issues like Trademark and Copyright infringement is very real.

Be sure to enjoy these new tools, and try to be both a producer and consumer of these new technologies if you can. It can be quiet fun and entertaining. For personal reasons, Generative AI can be exploratory and helpful in your creativity. For you work, it can be beneficial to help fill in any gaps; just be conscious of any potential risks.
