The time has come to pickup on my bench marking of SQL server I/O running on Microsoft Windows Server 2019. It has been a few years since I did some heavy lifting in these areas; 2022, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2005, 1999
While setting up my lab and research test marks and goals, I did a segue in a series of conversations amongst peers and team members. These were some great side conversations. What came of those conversations were: technology noobs and seniors only different in terms of experience. What I found are noobs were young, keen and pretty smart while the seniors were wise. That is fascinating; the difference of a noob and a senior is just an adjective. True or False? I confirmed the seniors perspective with other peers, and then confirmed the noobs perspective with other noobs. Amazing.
On with the SQL I/O benchmarks on Windows Server. Goals:
1. Connectivity strings from an Test App using ASP/JavaScript, C#, Python
2. SQL I/O processing of stored procedures on heavy datasets; execution plan evaluations
3. AI vs ML in those items #1 and #2
4. Operational versus Research environments in terms of I/O and architecture
5. OLTP versus OLAP performance differences in various architectures
Those are my test scopes and guidelines. What can I deduce from each of those might take a few weeks to perform yet I am optimistic in my suppositions and end results. Whatever hypothesis to test, I am eager to confirm or deny my thoughts.
