Ft. Lee Virginia

December 20, 1984

Right after basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri, I took a bus ride from there to Ft. Lee Virginia to complete 76C10 Quartermaster Supply school before being assigned a duty station after graduation; permanent party.

For 10 weeks, Ft. Lee was my home.

What happened there?

Led by SSG Johnson, a thin tall african american who was very keen and sharp as a tack; He was our platoon sergeant. He was tough but fair. He was always early and on-time and always one step ahead of everyone. We were the last building of the world war II barracks; called Delta house,

in the morning after getting up and going to the mess hall and eating; the wax the floors with a buffer, towel and Johnson's wax; hot, melted, clean our latrine inside, and then get into formation outside and march to school.

at night before bed,Wax the floors with a buffer, towel and Johnson's wax; hot, melted.

more to come.. our 1st Sargeant was an amazing funny leader!
