WIX - the business website platform for the masses - revisited after 1 year

July 29, 2016

After nearly 1 year, the evolution of website development has evolved through WIX. In July 2015, Mountain Marketing started an analysis of which content management systems (CMS) were destined for greatness and those that lagged. By December 2015, the jury had reached its conclusion in testing and found it formidable both as a free platform and paid platform.

Getting Started on WIX tips and tricks:

* Get a new account at WIX using a personal email account, not your current business account

* Change the account name to your proposed domain name

* Do not switch your domain from your current registrar. WIX confuses customers in the first few steps.

* Complete at least 2-3 weeks of platform testing and wait for their 50% coupons for the $12 platform, ergo $6 / month for the first year

*

Below are the research notes that we publish to our client base in mid-December 2015, and after that date we have successfully migrated a dozen customers and a few more are on the way, as well as, five new customers just started on the platform and are quite pleased.

Conclusion:

* Mix your WIX self-service platform with our RG4S 2.0 secure platform

* Use WIX for free using your fully qualified domain name (there is a trick, give us a call)

* Look at the WIX outlook from management notes and history.

Our notes were: Overall business stability and M&A possibilites. We looked at buying 1000 shares back in December 2015 knowing $15 per share would double within one year, as well as version 2.0 of their platform launch, and in January 2016 the NFL Super Bowl 50 advertisement they flew, we knew they were on an uptick. Plus, being pixel perfect and mobile friendly was a plus, a secure platform with integration stability beyond compare. Others lagging and failing in their sector was Word Press, and wandering around is Weebly. Other ISP open source platforms are good, yet WIX is great IMHO.

Regards,

MM, Drew

BACKGROUND AND REPORT, BENEFITS, SECURITY

Currently, out of the 350+ websites I have been created and maintained over the past 18 years, 10 business owners are looking at different ways to update their website on varied platforms and more are traveling today than before. Will there be a different cost for these changes? The cost of webhosting will transition from Mountain Computers to another provider, and your DOMAIN registration will remain where it is with you or via me. So instead of hosting at Mountain Computers your entire site, merely 80-90% of it will be somewhere else, and the 10-20% for the ecommerce site will remain here at Mountain Computers. The cost differential and existing credits will be calculated and suggested.

Below is more research I want to share that has taken place since July 2015.  The ecommerce or special tools we use are still good and working and for some obsolete and must be migrated. For those who have integrated e-commerce and specialized galleries, calendars, shopping systems, etc… I am looking at new and more secure ways to keep your customers and your online shopping and selling working fast and secure. I call it the RG4S platform that has been around since 2001 yet that 1.0 solution is now evolving to 2.0.

QUESTION: Can I update my website editor from Adobe Contribute to something else? I am using Visual Site Designer too. Is there something more mobile friendly and can be used on any of my computers at anytime from anywhere?

RESPONSE: Yes. At Mountain Marketing and Computers; the move to offer self-service content management that is mobile device friendly and easy to update on the go from anywhere is pending.

Here are the top three choices evaluated in the last 2 months.

  • Results: I tried that with a few and don’t like it. Free all the way, but templates and editor is not friendly and pretty crude.

NOTE: For those of you on WordPress right now --- I might suggest we move to WIX. I will contact the three of you shortly.

  • Results: I tried that with a few more and I do like it. Excellent online editor, cost is nominal per month $4, $6, $8, $12 depending.

  • Results: I am trying this with a few and I do not like it as much as Wix, cost is a little more than Wix.

Therefore, future website maintainers for new and existing customers – the research continues to come in yet I like WIX….

Some reviews:

http://www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/  -- 4.2 score out of 5.0 --- 70 million customers

http://www.websitetooltester.com/en/reviews/weebly-review/  4.9 score out of 5.0 – 30 million customers

WEBHOSTING SECURITY FOR 2016 -- The PROBLEM with ECOMMERCE that we offer!

Does the new platform choices above offer the type of ecommerce currently running? A resounding no. The RG4S (Regional4Sale.com) Secure Platform v2.0 that I started back in July 2015 has been deployed for 3 existing customers, and two are pending transition, and 10 more are planned and suggested to transition after the holiday season.

BENEFITS:  Customers will be more secure and up-to-date and compliant with PCI merchant laws, new SSL browser security that banks are requiring by January 2016.
