Its no big surprise from the white pages to the yellow pages, the amount of free data that is out there for identity theft has exploded from 2018 to 2019.

Much of the data is regurgitated and being recycled and distributed on the dark web.

One company and more are saying they don't have policies and procedures in place other than a contract to their third parties to keep their data dumps safe, yet how irresponsible is that?

At microsoft, we regularly audited our suppliers and vendors, in-sourced and out-sourced for compliance to some controls and failsafes. Today, that is not the case, and what good would it do anyhow. All is takes is one or two employees with access to the data sets or groups of the data to compete and sell confidential client information.

should we be worried? yes and no.

i say start going by pseudo-names in public and your real name in contract required stuff for banking and government; yet government and banking is already hacked and trading your data for financial profiling and risk avoidance. How do you correct these huge institutions? you can't. you can't slap the rooster or fox in the hen house if they write the rules for penalty and punishment to fit the crime. the only thing one can do is terminate the management and leadership at any and all levels for negligence.

are data provider and aggregator leaders competent to do their job; make money that's easy, protect their data, hell no. they just hop to another job with their golden parachute and repeat. that's the game and if you don't know it by now, you do now.

its just a data game for many who stand to profit.

more to come...
