In the near future, artificial intelligence (AI) will be making a come back. AI has been around for nearly 50 years or more. For me, it was first noticed in a book called Fuzzy Logic. The book Fuzzy Logic was a good read.
For me, AI and Fuzzy Logic boils down to prediction of present or future actions based on constant analysis of past decisions and activities. For example, Elevator technology would analyze hourly patterns of usage and amazingly an elevator would be waiting at a series of specific floors just waiting for you to press the door open button.
Is fuzzy logic equal to artificial intelligence? Yes and no.
AI will be the big thing from social media giants. Well, its not AI, it's just data analysis. One might think Facebook or Twitter or large social networks can predict the future, what they are really doing is analyzing your past and predicting the future based on your repetitive nature. No magic there.
If Facebook had a bazillion records about their users and took that data offline constantly and analyzed it, cooked it down and found out how each of us tick by the hour, day, week and month -- some might think that is artificial intelligence. It is not.
Why do celebrity journalists through around the word "AI" like they know what it means? Probably because they want to look and sound cool, trendy, relevant and "in the know"
more to come.
